Antiquity ends with the collapse of the Roman Empire. This chapter focusses mainly on what happened to Western Europe after this once great empire collapsed. Later on in this period was called the Dark Ages. It was believed that nothing worth mentioning had occurred in this period. This is not true. The thousand years after the fall of the Roman Empire is full of stories and important changes. A totally new form of government was introduced and Christianity spread to every corner of the continent. In the Middle East a completely new religion was created by Muhammed: Islam.
