This chapter follows the development of European explorations, colonisation and globalisation of the world. Within a few centuries the Europeans conquered many countries. The capitalist system made them very rich. Through these merchants the world became connected in a way that it was never connected in before. In many cases the price the local inhabitants had to pay was high. In our modern world wealth is unequally divided. Many people in our world work under horrible conditions for very low wages because people in Western countries are not willing to pay more for their products.
